Violence Has No Place in Our Movement

Today, the nation witnessed the violent death of Charlie Kirk during a public event at Utah Valley University. Regardless of one’s views about Kirk, Turning Point USA, or the divisive politics he advanced, the act of shooting him down is indefensible. It is a tragedy — for his family, for those who witnessed it, and for our country.
Citizens Against Tyranny condemns this act of violence in the strongest terms. We reject the idea that change can be won at the barrel of a gun, through intimidation, or by silencing voices, even those with whom we profoundly disagree. Our mission has always been rooted in peaceful resistance, democratic accountability, and the power of people, not weapons.
As our partners at 50501 have affirmed: “We remain committed to non-violence. Weapons are not permitted at any of our events… We expect all our supporters to conduct themselves lawfully and responsibly, and disavow anything advocating for disruption or violence.” This is not just a statement; it is the very foundation of how we operate.
C.A.T. stands on the same ground. At our rallies, meetings, and actions, there is zero tolerance for weapons, threats, or any rhetoric that incites violence. We know that authoritarianism thrives on fear, chaos, and division, and we refuse to feed that machine. Our resistance is stronger because it is disciplined, principled, and peaceful.
The killing of Charlie Kirk is already being twisted into political ammunition. It will be used to justify more repression, more militarization, and more attempts to paint dissent as dangerous. We will not let that narrative take root. We honor the right to protest, to speak, to resist, but we do so without violence.
Our fight is not about revenge. It is about building a future where government serves the people, where power is accountable, and where communities are free from fear — fear of both authoritarian overreach and vigilante violence.
C.A.T. remains unwavering: violence is not the way. It is the excuse tyrants use to crush dissent. We will not hand them that weapon. Our power is in solidarity, in courage, and in disciplined, nonviolent resistance that exposes their corruption for what it is. They rule through fear. We resist through truth and people power. That is how we win back our country, and that is how we will build the future — free, just, and beyond their control.
